High Borrans History

When we moved here in 2007, we quickly realised that High Borrans was a special place and felt that it should be shared. After a couple of years of brainstorming, business planning and a lot of hard work High Borrans Lodge Park was established. The lodge park has been a passion project for the whole family but in particular, Cathy, who has dedicated the last 14 years to delivering clean, functional, and stylish lodges that exceed holiday home expectations.

A Rural Retreat

When creating the lodge park, we envisioned a serene rural retreat for couples away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby honey-pot towns and yet offering easy access to all of the tourist attractions. Each pair of guests would be able to wrap themselves up in their own private bubble, kick back, relax and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of the surrounding farm and countryside. We think it is fair to say that High Borrans Lodge Park truly deserves the label of “rural retreat”.

Comfort & Cleanliness

We are big believers in comfort and cleanliness, to achieve this in all of the lodges, our team of Cathy, Eliza and the two fabulous housekeepers; Bogumila and Dorota, all work together to ensure that our lodges are pristine for every guest that stays with us. For your own peace of mind, upon arrival, you will notice a small chalkboard with details of when the lodge was most recently sanitised. All towels and bedding are professionally laundered at a local, family-run company.

Our Location

The location of the lodge park is within easy reach of many of the Lake District’s popular tourist destinations. Windermere is just two and a half miles away and Ambleside is less than a 20-minute drive. Being just a mile off the A591, the location offers excellent access to the whole of the national park, including places such as Keswick, Grasmere and Ullswater.

Our Facilities

  • A laundry room located in a small stone building at the entrance to the park, containing free to use, washing machines, a dryer and an iron and ironing board
  • Additional freezer space in the laundry room (as well as freezer boxes in each property)

Things to Know During Your Stay

  • The lodge park is located on a working farm, there will be plenty of sheep and cows around, please be respectful of this and keep dogs on a lead.
  • The farm is rural, even though we are just 10 minutes from Windermere, you will have to drive down a single-track lane to get to us.
  • Please do expect farmyard animals, noises, and smells when in the area. If you would like to see any animals (particularly lambs during spring), please just ask and we will do our best to accommodate you.
  • Due to the location, there is very poor mobile reception, however, each lodge does have its own WIFI. So, you are not completely cut off from the rest of the world.
  • If there are any issues during your visit, please feel free to call at the farmhouse, there is usually someone around who can help.
